12th Annual Fishing Contest 2008

Friday, June 20 thru Friday, June 27, 2008 -- Prizes were awarded Saturday, June 28, at the island.

Thank you to all that participated in our 12th Annual Runyan Lake Fishing Contest. This year we had 120 fish checked in by 40 individuals of all ages.  T.J. Polakowski took the "Big Fish" honors with a Northern Pike that was over 9 pounds.  We also saw more Walleye entered this year than in the past with one over 6 pounds.  There were also a lot of very large Bass entered.

Next year we will be kicking off the Contest with a Fishing Clinic hosted by Tim Polakowski.  Make sure to keep an eye out for the flyer next June for details.

Nets were placed at different points around the lake on June 28, and samples were collected June 29, by Dr. David Jude, of Fresh Water Physicians, who will present his findings at a future General Membership Meeting.  Initial findings of fish samples and water samples were very positive.
