As directed by the Membership during the Spring General Membership Meeting held May 27, 2011, motioned by Bob Waligora, seconded by Michael Ewles, a special meeting is hereby called as set forth by RLI Bylaws Section 4.01.(e) for the purpose of Membership consideration of an island improvement plan.

Background:  During the last two General Membership Meetings one of the topics discussed was island improvements.  These improvements potentially consist of a seawall around the island, added fill (top soil), improvements to, or replacement of the dock, and associated items.  During the May 27th meeting, it became apparent additional information was needed before informed voting could take place.  The Membership directed the RLI Board to gather the necessary information and to call a Special Meeting within sixty days.  The cost of the seawall, top soil, and dock improvements/replacement is still in the bid process, but could be in the $40,000 to $50,000 range.  Due to the cost involved, your attendance is requested.  If you cannot attend, please participate via proxy.

As set forth by RLI Bylaws Section 4.01.(g), “Proxy votes, in writing, shall be allowed.  RLI Members shall be notified not less than twenty-one (21) days in advance of such items and provided the option to vote by proxy.  All proxy and/or ballot submissions must be received by a Board member before commencement of a meeting, or via RLI PO Box forty-eight (48) hours prior to commencement of a meeting, to be counted. Members in attendance will be provided appropriate ballots and colored voting cards based on RLI voting rights in order to participate during the meeting.”

Proxy ballots will be available not less than 15 days prior to the meeting via our website.  A proxy ballot form will also be emailed to our distribution list, and will be provided by standard mail to those who are not on our email distribution, and to those who have requested newsletters and notices by mail (see reverse side).

Please take the time to either attend this important meeting, or make your preference known by submitting a proxy ballot.

Proxy voting:  Please keep in mind all persons listed on your property deed, generally the same as your property tax bill is addressed, are "freeholders" and are entitled to vote.  In many cases properties are owned by multiple freeholders, such as a husband and wife,  Each freeholder is entitled to only one vote, regardless of the number of properties owned.
